Diarrhea or the stomach flu, as it is sometimes called, is caused by an infection of the gut. People of all ages can be affected and according to an estimate, an average person suffers from diarrhea three to five times in a year on an average.

Diarrhea can be caused by many reasons like not digesting the food completely or it could be due to a viral or bacterial infection. It could also be caused by intestinal parasites, especially while traveling. Exposure to radiation or chemotherapy can also cause it as does certain medicines.
