Diabetes is of two types, type 1 and type 2. Type 1 diabetes is a result of the damage caused to beta cells because of the destructive character of the cells present in the body. The reasons behind the type 1 diabetes are hereditary or malnutrition and environment. It is also caused by the abnormal secretion of certain hormones in blood which act as opponents to insulin. Type 2 diabetes occurs when body produces the required insulin but fails to utilize it. It usually affects in middle age and the reasons behind it are obesity, heredity or having gestational diabetes. A number of risk factors increase the risk of type 2 diabetes.
