Strokes are of two types, Ischemic strokes and Haemorrhage strokes, though the former is more common. In an Ischemic stroke, a blood vessel becomes so narrow that the supply of blood is restricted through it. The reason is the built up of fatty deposits of cholesterol.Haemorrhage stroke occurs when the walls of the blood vessel become weak and burst in the brain.
Stroke is caused by two types of factors; one that we can control and the ones beyond our control. The former are factors like age, family history, ethnicity and prior stroke. The factors that can be controlled are high blood pressure and cholesterol, cigarette smoking and alcohol abuse, diabetes, heart disease and sedentary life style. There are some other factors too that can cause a stroke like some medical problems or the use of some medicines.
