Uncontrollable crying, also called crying jags can take place at all ages, but it is more common among infants. It is the natural way of the body to release stress and is helpful in the natural functioning of the body. Crying jags could continue for hours sometimes and usually the reasons behind it are difficult to find. Among the medical reasons, depression, drug abuse, stress or hormonal changes are some of the reasons. Women suffer from crying jags during pregnancy as a lot of hormonal changes take place during that stage. Babies need a soothing touch during crying jags and carrying them for sometime usually calms them.
My brother is 60 years old, suffered a major heart attack, came through the surgery very well but has been having crying jags at odd times. What is the cause and how can I help him?
